tiny fragile cups
rays of light that reach the heart
pink dizzy with bees
here in the southwest
forsythia stretches her yellow arms
around the sleepy hillsides.
daffodils nod in the breeze as iris cast purple
into the flowering mix of
springs first curtsy.
you lie in wait for their arrival
and it is a shared sigh of relief
when they appear.
but when the manzanita blooms;
it's like stumbling on a prayer
whispered to the wind.
such tiny blossoms could easily be missed-
but there are thousands of them
and together
filled with the drone of bees
something so fragile,
so fragrant, so filled with light
awakens miracles.
