one moment
illuminated
first snow falls
snow has a way of quieting an entire landscape
softening life's edges, illuminating light,
something as simple as
falling
calls out holy.
lovers of small words gather like light to
illuminate the landscape of another.
friends- i have grown quiet here at
recuerda mi corazon.
early mornings
when i loyally visited and chatted in bloglandia
long ago turned into mandatory
early morning physical therapy-
i work so hard to remain among the upright and ambulatory.
six months ago i committed to a clinical trial-
those with my genetic disease
are few- ten thousand in the entire world.
most are far too ill to travel.
i joined this clinical trial in honor of them-
my hope
to forge a path to a brighter future.
it is 4 a.m. as i prepare
for a return to Duke University
and a diverse collection of beautiful minds
hoping to improve our future.
it is both arduous and invigorating.
i leave you with this first snow,
an early haiku
and a promise to visit you all
on sunday when i return
home.

I feel so blessed to have been inspired to return toHMH today. And to arrive early and find another hommage to light and hope, is especially uplifting. Many of us carry you in prayer, dear Rebecca.

Safe travels to you Rebecca. If anyone can help, it's the awesome minds centered at Duke. I hope you find a little time while there to visit the beautiful and peaceful campus landscape. Praying for you to be strong. xo
