summer yields to fall
dares you to become the wind
old flames are stirring
be careful sighs the wind-
there should never be a favorite child;
but, the light
this glimmering
the scarlet unfurling.
winter how i bow to your quiet purity
and retrospection
till spring..
when you open me with your bright promise
of renewal and awakening.
summer, you slay me with your crush of flowers,
your languid golden hours.
but autumn oh autumn-
season of the great letting go-
you have my heart
with your first flame.
a circle of seasons sweetened with
the presence of dear friends

I too bow to this flame... this falling into change... it humbles me. Thank you Rebecca, for having us here, to share these small moments that are truly larger than life. XOXOXO

"There should never be a favourite child." Yes, the seasons change. How beautifully you have said it all.

I can feel fall approaching but so far, summer is hanging on here in Toronto - it has been hot and humid all week and more of the same forecast for this weekend. Just as well, I'm not ready to say goodbye to the season, as much as I love the colours and flavours of fall. But thanks for this little taste!

No one sings the praises of the seasons quite as well as you do, Rebecca.
