i rise up from quiet dreams

drink deep from small cups

 

 

 

 

how i love fridays knowing i will 

sit quietly and drink deeply from your offerings.

your presence opens the day like spring flowers,

so full of beauty, so rich in meaning,

so generously coloring our world.

 one more bright sunday

all night in bed with the moon

joy strewn all around

 

 

but the mind always

wants more than it has-

one more bright day of sun,

one more clear night in bed

with the moon; one more hour

to get the words right; one

more chance for the heart in hiding 

to emerge from its thicket

in dried grasses-as if this quiet day

with its tentative light weren't enough,

as if joy weren't strewn all around"

when joy enters you

a thousand clouds cannot stop

the sun in your heart

 

i am thinking of people

who wake up in the world and live life like flowers

and being flowers forget everything

but the bright desire to bloom

to spread a sweet fragrance across every shore

and share their beauty 

unabashed 

across continents and time

to revel in each bright new moment

their entire lives; 

devoted to the seasons of love

 

 we lost some mighty bright flowers this week.

let's not let the light of their love diminish

or the gifts of their flowering hearts

be forgotten.
