to say this has been a week of unimaginable challenges,
enormous sacrifice
and
utter devastation
would be a grave understatement.
even the birdsongs of dawn
fall bittersweet on the weight of a new day without our boys
as we strive to navigate
the inconceivable disparity
of
birth and death.
"...The only way I can prove my love is by scattering flowers
and these flowers are every little sacrifice,
every glance and word,
and the doing of the least actions for love."
saint theresa
mornings with mary
a welcoming of love, the comfort of compassion.

Who can help but stagger, confronted with a tragedy of such magnitude? Thankfully, there is divine assistance to help us in our staggering, and in in our weakness.

Thank you for these gifts of petals... falling from stone, promising life when there is nothing but tears... promising with this gesture and these words... XO

each time I encounter a reference to the firefighters, I feel my throat tighten and my eyes well up. I've even thought of "the last days" with tragedy being so far-flung. your post and images are so touching, sweet Rebecca!

my dear Rebecca,
Sorry to disappoint about the heart. It was a card in my momma's papers. I loved it so much that I scanned it and included it in one of the monthly missives I send the housebound members of our parish. Then in a clean-out, I found the frame so I decided to make the shrine with my own created prayer.
Here it is: May the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary bring blessings to you each day.
If you'd like a copy of the card with the prayer, I would love to send you one.
email me at [email protected]
affectionately,
Nonnie
