haiku my heart holy

 

 

perhaps the same bird

sang holy through both our hearts

frigid black morning

 

 

 

 some mornings

when i am late to open the haiku doors

i wonder if you can feel me sitting here, deep in thought 

ferreting words.

not so much to express my "self"

but rather

to find myself a part of something far greater;

for you

are the holy song

tying all our hearts together.

it was a easy gesture,

completely spontaneous.

to solder an iridescent red heart and give it wings.

 then to wrap it up and send it secretly on its way.

who could know it would arrive on the doorstep of a friend,

moments after she received the heartbreaking news of the loss of a dear friend.

who could know?

the contours of our hearts are never fully realized

until we land in the arms 

of caring for another.

love fiercely,

never hold back.

the realization of bright dreams

 

i couldn't tell you

how long this ancient dream 

has slept through sundrenched seasons in the campo.

or how many hearts have carried it in their careful intentions,

 this bright hope of coxing possibility into the light of day.

an ageless dream;

reborn each moment a woman gives birth

and longs for a fortuitous future for her children.

i will assure you

the seeds of love are plentiful, that the true beauty of  

life's tapestry resides in

each bright strand of believing placed with

conviction one upon the other.

was a victorious day for the women of las rancheritas,

for all children, 

and all women of the world;

for one dream realized

pollinates the hope filled dreams of  all those still waiting.

 this once abandoned building 

filled with the realization of bold dreams, courage, team work,

and the happiness of achievement.
