the world is so huge
i want to have a good look
before it grows dark
dear world,
i want my heart to remain open to you
throw willing arms
bravely around your every offering
seek out the sacred
moment by moment
love fiercely
give truly
until the last song.

Unfortunately, that darkness is coming all too soon--so I'd better look fast, huh? :)

Aaah... don't let it get dark all too soon, I want to stroll along the riverside, visit a concert, enjoy life before the sun disappears... let's live today to the fullest shall we?!

I am enjoying the dark already, waiting in the dark with my son for his bus in front of our house, walking with my husband after work in the dark crunching leaves... as long as I get the sun on my lunch hour I am still good!

I want to see in the dark, too!

Reminds me of Elton John's song...don't let the sun go down on me...
I love the double meaning to your poem, Rebecca, you are always so wise. ♥♥♥

There is so much still to embrace, both when I'm awake and in that small snippet of a preview when I close my eyes to sleep... until that big sleep, when I think I will truly awake.. like you, may I throw my arms willingly around every offering. Every offering. I so love this amazing world. XOXOXO

I love your haiku and photo today. I went to our local small business import store day before yesterday to buy Our Lady of Guadalupe for my ofrenda. I bought a couple charms as well. I choose a charm to wear on a necklace for each of my friends or family members who have passed into the great beyond. It's my way of honoring them.

Rebecca, I was taken by the depth of your haiku today...your simple words mean so much and caused me to ponder them for quite awhile this morning. Glad to know that you will be "having a(nother)look" next week!
