the harvest moon spills a light soft as lilies at midnight,
one last dusting of dreams before the sun opens
like a palm of someone you have known your whole life.
a noble mission of hope and sustenance
arriving this last day of september;
falling with a force that opens flowers, a strength that turns faces upward,
a circle reminding us that everything connects somewhere.
i walk the paths of a waning garden collecting seeds like promises.
i walk straight into the honest world.
and if i am truly open
if i look closely enough, the rich pollen offered like golddust,
the scattering of all our deeds on the paths of life,
all the words, dreams, impossible longings,
the arriving
the inevitable letting go....
there.
right there
where birth waits in quiet seeds and death is a thousand leaves falling
i stand
glimpsing the place where all things join,
to find and to be found by it,
made whole.
each sunday in october i hope you will join me in one of the most touching memes of the year,
an honest sharing of memories of those now passed,
a time to honor their place in our forever hearts;
and in remembering
to be filled again with their forever love.
