if you come to las Rancheritas
i promise
there will be flowers.
there will be young children with ancient eyes
and dusty paths to follow
under forgiving skies.
a vibrant sun will lean favorable upon you
where a resounding welcome
waits in the loving eyes of each family you meet.
you will find a compassionate hard working community
where the most vivid dreams
are of mothers for the well being of their children.
warm handed and open hearted working together
industrious women transform bolts of wool
into a rainbow of colours.
each woman will hook endless hours in the creation of a whimsical rug,
the colour of hope and caring for their families
residing in every stitch.
today i am finding paradise in
mothers, women, dreamers of bright dreams,
paradise in the fulfilment of helping others.
you can read about joining me at
a special thank you to
charlotte bell for allowing me to share her photographs
and her endless support of
Las Rancheritas.
you can catch up on all the dreams coming to fruition at her blog

Good Morning, Rebecca!
Your tale of Las Rancheritas sends me back there in an instant, remembering the dear people who work so hard - and so beautifully - to create a better life for their families.

what honest, simple beauty in the eyes of those in your post here. I was a knitter for most of my life and have oodles of yarn. now that i cannot knit i am wondering if some of the yarn can be use for the hooked rugs. i will read more about Las Rancheritas later today. sending sunday hugs to you, rebecca. xo

These rugs are amazing. I hope you live closeby so I can visit these beautiful women.
We find paradise in different places in our lives. At this moment, my paradise is in my dreams and hopes for my husband and I. I find paradise in each moment that we have. He has been diagnosed with brain cancer last May. He has miraculously exceeded what the doctors have expected. To celebrate our upcoming wedding anniversary, I am conducting a haiku photo contest.
