just a world away
wishing i could be the wind
that touches your face
somewhere outside my dark dreaming
the birds begin.
layering the promise of each china blue morning
with their great feathering of hope.
and i lay there
in that bright unfastening and everyone i have ever known
is a star in the lightening sky.
so close i wake wondering are these kisses blown
or the beating of wings of those who have died?
may you wake to love...
and be loved fiercely.
now come please, haiku my heart!
Rebecca~ This is so beautiful. I feel longing, love, desire, loneliness... if one could be the wind, a crow, the stars, the moon, the sea... how lovely to touch the beloved no matter how far away. So sweet, Rebecca. xo

"In one of the stars I shall be living. In one of them I shall be laughing. And so it will be as if all the stars were laughing, when you look at the sky at night . . . You--only you--will have stars that can laugh!"
And he laughed again.
"And when your sorrow is comforted (time soothes all sorrows) you will be content that you have known me. You will always be my friend. You will want to laugh with me. And you will sometimes open your window, so, for that pleasure . . . And your friends will be properly astonished to see you laughing as you look up at the sky! Then you will say to them, 'Yes, the stars always make me laugh!' And they will think you are crazy. It will be a very shabby trick that I shall have played on you . . ."
And he laughed again.
"It will be as if, in place of the stars, I had given you a great number of little bells that knew how to laugh . . ."
~The Little Prince.
I love you rebecca. May the stars surround your heart with loving kindness and comfort.
xoxo,
Noelle

wishing i could be the wind
that touches your face

Hello, hello Rebecca! I follow Kim (Queen of arts) for quite some time now, and liked the haiku's every Friday. I do write poetry and haiku's myself, but being from the Netherlands, I never make them in English. But this week I gave it a try, and put my entry in your list. Your haiku leaves me breathless today! Reading it, I wish my English was better. To capture the spirit of a haiku in a foreign language is quite difficult...

Good Morning Rebecca,
All the things Spadoman writes are what I feel reading your post! Your art and words are filled with esprit! And you leave room for us to intemperate for ourselves what your words mean.
I hope that china blue plate is shining down upon you now~ today~
Thank you for fixing my problem. I'm will be publishing my post closer to next Wednesday. I think it's better.
May you discover treasures galore as you explore the terrain of this brand new day~

Rebecca,
There's nothing like the feeling of wind kissing your face...and the wonderment of where it all might actually originate! Another beautifully written and thoughtful post.

Oh, my, what an experience this morning! First I read your post. Twice. Then the comments. Pulling me out of the drudgery of the morning, the anticipation of dreaded routine tasks, the fatigue and grimness of the day...to...another place. Thank you, thank you, Rebecca! ♥ xoO

A busy day and I am late to the haiku party. Rebecca, what beautiful words to match your painting. I hope you are considering publishing, if you have not already done so. You should be featured in Somerset Studio or one of the art magazines.
