i believe in
fresh starts, new beginnings, possibilities.
arm fulls of pure white lilies,
with long sun bright tongues,
the flowering of renewal.
i believe in impossibly small seeds,
perfect seeds
we carry in our hearts
becoming offerings of miraculous
possibilities where compassion and generosity
become a shared language.
i believe in miracles.
tiny, intimate miracles
where a change for the better is made
and the hand that sets that golden wheel in motion
is never seen.
and huge, sweep your heart away miracles
where one hand joins the next
and it is impossible to know
where one heart ends, and the next begins.
i believe in a world
without borders, barriers, divisions.
a common sky singing out with its
merciful quenching of humanity.
we may never see
the complex ways our caring
plays out in the lives of others
but from a vantage point
say, across the plane
of an impossibly clear sky
i imagine it is like casting a pearl
into the waters of life.
the concentric circles keep extending
until they reach the outer shore.
and in that spilling out....
there is finally the moment
when you cannot tell where one act
of generosity ends
and the next
begins.
i invite you to visit our
where generous artists come together each year
to create a brighter future for others.
today is the official call out to artists
for the 2011 spring
shrine auction.
to join this years auction
please leave me a comment of your intention
i will email you all the details!

My stumble took me to a doorway in Tlaquepaque. Despite the haiku accompanying the photo, it was a rather joyful meeting!
I like what you say about compassion and generosity being our shared language. Both of those "tongues" help me in Mexico, where my facility in Spanish is rudimentary at best!

Hello, Rebecca!! Last year, I promised I would help you in any way with the Shrine event and just wanted to let you know that I am available for it, if you still need some help. Same email, different blog. I know! I keep changing - I think this one will stick around for awhile. Still in the throes of remodeling... xoxo

Hi Rebecca,
I would love to join in this year if I can. It all depends on the timing and work commitments but I think I can do it! I know I would love to help those children! Please let me know the details and I will let you know soon. xx

Thank you for your always poignant words, Rebecca. I will be joining the Oaxaca auction, and have posted some of my favorite photos from Oaxaca on my blog, just in time to launch the mood of Oaxaca.

I still revel in the shrine I bought last year and can't wait to see what comes up this one!

As B.Loved told you already, I had begun to collect the things I want to use in this year's shrine before the helper from Hades brought the pestilence which I am now still fighting, but getting better.
I guess you are not getting my emails, don't worry, it appears to be the case with other peeps, but know that I am thinking about you and planning on seeing Meri this coming week in Seattle if hopefully we get there. We sure would love to have you there with us. Next time, yes? Sending you love my dear, and much love and hoping you too are leaving the tiredness behind you.

How I wish I could write prose poetry like you do, Rebecca. Your style is so beautiful and heartfelt. I am new to your project, but I'll read what you posted. Hope you have a good week.

Count me in this year, Rebecca!
And I like the expression on the woman carrying the Calla lilies. And that little round bottom on the baby is cute!
