i could not resist
the lily white
highlights of gesso
each stroke a curve of a prayer
held tight in the hands of mercy
gold entered like a flaming bush
a starry crown
to tilt the face of compassion
a little closer
then closer still
converging with the sun and moon
a soft wind lifts the
midnight blue
of mystery and waiting
once an old silver tray carried to the table of life now
Serving Mary
paint, gesso, glass, metal, red beads,
all wrapped up in a thoughtful afternoon.

Wow. That's beautiful. I wonder why Mary's head is always tilted? What's the significance of that?

I love her! What an original, artistic creation to enjoy every day. A beautiful encourager of devotion - which is something you are, and do so well here. Thank you for sharing.

You've often said that it's all about the face...your sweet portrayal captures the essence of love, benevolence, and grace masterfully. Once again, I'm in awe...

Beautiful, Rebecca! I imagine that the interior of your home shines a rich gold when candles are lit.

Divine - in all ways, Rebecca. What a great way to repurpose a tarnished and/or damaged silver tray. The edge looks like a deep and warm halo surrounding her body.
