when i first laid eyes on this, my heart jumped!
immediately i wanted to track down my husband and entice him to cut
out a GIANT plywood rooster that i would paint,
to fill our kitchen.
perfect welcoming happiness
to jump start each predawn morning when i follow
our early rising cat out into the softening stars..
and then to the kitchen to fill the quiet air
with the perfect aroma of grinding coffee beans
and a fresh bowl of kitty crunchies for jackson.
a welcome like this could astonish all
who entered.
inspire instant smiles.
keep track of shopping lists,
call out perfect meals...
just crow the day in!
i can see that i am not alone in coveting such simple happiness.
here is where i FIRST spied this bright icon..
from my dear friend elizabeth bunsen
of
here is where she spied this talisman of crowing joy
Shelburne Orchards -
http://www.shelburneorchards.com/nicks_corner/shelburne-orchards/
and asked if the chicken was hers
i wrote to her immediately
and
if i too could make this mine.
without hesitation she offered the photograph and link
and encouraged me to replicate this beauty.
and now i am sharing it with all of you.
it is a crisp bright morning.
i am singing the joy of
simply pleasures
and
the sharing of friends who
inspire each of us to follow our hearts.
then it dawned on me.
some of us are chicken people,
while others of us are definitely
sheep people...
here is another friend who inspires..
somepinkflowers!!!!!
'Tis the gift to have friends and a true friend to be,
'Tis the gift to think of others not to only think of "me",
And when we hear what others really think and really feel,
Then we'll all live together with a love that is real.
from the shaker song
Tis a Gift to be Simple
oh

SWEET! SWEET! SWEET! I could just squeeze YOU Rebecca for JOY!! Is that rooster going to come your way?!! I was a lamb and sheep person when I was little although I loved to feed our chickens too, especially after that ole mean rooster was long gone from the coop!

I loved that rooster behind the stove when I first saw it, still do. Then I realized I already had a rooster cut out of wood that I made about 5 years back. It's actually 1 big rooster and two little ones following it, if I'm not mistaken. I am going to look for it and paint it. I'll post it then. I don't know where to begin to look for it though. Tee Hee. Have a great Sunday and how lucky that you are getting a copy of that picture. Take care.
