tomorrow morning a biology classroom will be transformed.
books will slide to the far edge of a long week of discoveries.
we will begin with a large armature.
it will startle most with its
blank
white
stare.
it takes some warming up to.....
this white. untouched. mystery.
so gently we will begin
coaxing
a path,
plotting a direction
that is at once
meaningful.
sincere.
passionate.
personal.
it's lovely to walk in the hush of promise.
once a course is chosen the power of commitment
has each student head down and immersed in their journey.
you could hear a heart beating for all the silent joy.
and in the days of all this reveling
one by one
each student is lost in that perfect timeless place of creativity.
fear of the unknown is replaced with discovery.
fragments of glass that lay unrelated
and impossibly small find import in their new wholeness.
uncertainty
is
replaced
with
trust.
the air is electric
as their simple pencil and paper drawings
come to life
and through it all, the hesitant beginnings, the unfolding of trust, the freedom of
expression, the sheer joy of finding ones voice, the accomplishment of transformation,
i hope each student will hold strong to these revelations,
this week, this journey.
because life is a work in progress. and everyone needs teachers
who believe in them. whose every thought, word and action
says, i see you. you are capable.
you are important.
you are
loved.
