A POEM TO DEATH
One more year, my old familiar,
and these days I celebrate you!
You know,
you are lucky that I am Mexican and that I love you
so much that I can make you beautiful
in a thousand forms.
I imagine you in my own way and,
with all the colors of my homeland,
I dress you up
and I make new clothing for you
Listen; hear the joy I bring you!
Leave me here, please,
for many years so that we can amuse ourselves together.
margarita fick
i fell in love with margarita's stunning black and white paper art,
inspired by the papel picados of her youth; years ago.
i have searched for her and never given up hope our paths would cross.
this year my dream came true when margarita invited me to visit.
after spending a few afternoons in her cosy welcoming home,
laughter and stories filling the bright air
i could not resist margarita's immediate charm
or the growing
connection between us.
knowing i would be returning to her country with a small
group to share the traditions of dia de los muertos
i could think of no one i would be more honored to invite
to join us in the courtyard
to share her stories, irresistible verve for life,
and the incredible mastery of her paper arts.
it thrills me to the core
that she has accepted with equal delight!
one more chapter of our days in san miguel for
margarita fick
acclaimed maestro in the traditional arts
of paper and dia de los muertos.
Viva la Vida!!!
there is
in living ones
passion.
