when doves cry

 

if you make your way across the central highlands of Mexico 

to the Sierra Gorda mountains of Guanajuato, legendary

dusty roads will lead you with haunting nostalgia  to

Pozos de las Minerals.

if you come this far you are part gypsy part seeker

and your wanderlust is just about 

to be handsomely rewarded.

doves will coo in the warm shade.

fountains, refresh. margaritas, renew your faith.

 your desperate hunger for something memorable, something provocative,

perhaps something as revered as silver from lost mines will pass your welcome lips.

seriously.

one bite of

this Poblano feast made my

"if it were to be your last meal what would you eat list."

and the promise i secretly made to myself, to never ever

post a picture of food on my blog evaporated into the golden air of Posos.

never say never. and do not miss this mecca, this legendary 

destination of pure sensual delight. 

someday you must come away to san miguel and i will lead you here,

the oasis of julie and david winslow.

together we will drink, feast and beg like desperadoes

for the recipe of manna.

 all we will hear are rapturous
